The Division coordinates with university, state, and federal agencies on regulatory activities, initiation and regulation of plant quarantines, monitoring/detection of exotic insects and plants, and if necessary, eradication efforts. The Division oversees a nursery/plant dealers licensing program and is responsible for the inspection of commercially grown nursery/greenhouse stock throughout the state in order to facilitate international, inter- and intra-state movement of nursery stock and plant products. In addition, the Division serves as a contact point for beekeepers in the State of New Hampshire and oversees the Apiary Inspection Program. The Division of Plant Industry also coordinates the efforts of the New Hampshire Invasive Species Committee. The Division conducts exotic pest surveys and outreach and education for the detection and monitoring of potentially injurious insects and diseases, and develops integrated pest management (IPM) and biological control programs. The Entomology staff routinely identifies insects of public concern and arthropod identifications of medical importance.
