Animal Health and Welfare

The Division of Animal Industry works closely with the US Department of Agriculture and other agencies in the prevention and control of diseases of domestic animals and poultry in New Hampshire. A variety of channels are used to disseminate information to producers regarding best management practices to protect the health of animals and the consuming public. The division advises lawmakers and administers laws and rules that pertain to all areas of animal production, care and sale. Division staff, under the leadership of the State Veterinarian, routinely tests cattle and poultry for disease.

Division staff investigates animal abuse complaints and pet shops, shelters and other facilities are routinely inspected for standards compliance.
